VPN

SNU has a VPN client that allows you to connect to the campus via a secure tunnel. If you connect from home it is as if you are here on campus and have access to all the things you would normally have at work. To connect to your computer in your office follow these instructions.

Install VPN

http://vpn.snu.edu

login with your my.snu.edu credentials

If needed, see more complete instructions below

Connecting to your work computer from home (VPN)

At work

Make sure remote desktop is enabled.

· On your desktop or start menu right click the “My Computer” icon, go to properties

· Click on the “Remote” tab

· Make sure “Allow users to connect remotely to this computer” is checked. Hit OK

Find your IP Address

· Go to Start, click Run, type in “CMD” and hit enter.

· In the black screen, type “ipconfig” (minus quotes) and press enter

· Write down the single line of numbers beginning with 172.16 (e.g. 172.16.55.204). Type the word exit & press enter

· Leave your computer on!

At home

· Go to http://vpn.snu.edu using Internet Explorer & login with your Novell username & password

· Click the NetExdender icon in the middle of the page

· Click the yellow bar at the top to install the ActiveX control

· A progress bar will appear saying NetExtender is being installed & started (this program will now be installed on your Start Menu where you can access it each time you want to connect using VPN)

· Once it is installed successfully, a dialog box will appear stating that you are connected

· Click the Start menu then click Run

· Type the letters mstsc & press OK

· Enter the numbers you wrote down from your computer (the IP address) & click Connect
